What is your current job and how long have you been doing it for?
I am an Audit Supervisor at BDO Limited. I have worked in Guernsey since January 2014. Previously I worked in the UK near Bath for a small firm of Chartered Accountants where I trained as an ACA.
What does a typical day at the office look like for you?
Speaking/emailing or visiting clients on all matters audit, supervising staff, reviewing work and making lots of coffee! I have quite a wide variety of clients in Guernsey & Jersey so I get to visit lots of different businesses and understand how they tick. I probably spend 50% of my week out of the office which is great!
If you weren’t doing your current job what would you like to do?
I wanted to be a meteorologist when I was younger…but not sure I have the looks to be a weatherman!
What was your first job?
Top quality car washer when I was 12, but first real job was as a waiter in a little Italian restaurant in a little village called Beer in Devon.
How long have you been involved in YBG and what have you got out of being a member?
I joined YBG within a month of moving to the island in 2014. It has been a great way of meeting new people outside of the work environment especially when you are new to the island. I would say my closest friends I have in Guernsey were formed from YBG! It’s also a practical way to improve your soft skills which can be quite a skill to hone!
What is your favourite thing to do in Guernsey?
Either visiting Shell beach on Herm or having a cold pint whilst watching the sunset over Cobo bay.
Which three people would you have at your dinner table and why?
Guy Martin (because he’s a top chap and knows all there is know about racing superbikes at the TT and engineering), Sir David Attenborough (for obvious reasons) and the late Alan Whicker (as he travelled the world and will have plenty of stories to tell)
