What is your current job and how long have you been doing it for?

I am a Senior Recruitment Consultant at Firstcall Recruitment and have been working in the family business for the past 7 ½ years.

What does a typical day at the office look like for you?

Working in recruitment is a lifestyle choice and with the continued challenge of working with good quality individuals with fitting profiles.

My role is a mix of seeking out talent for our varying clients & assisting those seeking their next step.

I approach each day with a view of “what success can I achieve today!” with recruitment being the type of role where you get out what you put in.

Typically, I’ll be attending meetings / conducting interviews, assessing prospects for roles and making submissions, networking, advertising/marketing, plenty of telephone calls & emails, taking on new job roles, billing and in and around that we normally have a good laugh in the office.

If you weren’t doing your current job what would you like to do?

A good question…I don’t really have anything I’d specifically like to do but maybe something within the music industry – world famous music agent!

What was your first job?

My first job was actually seasonal work temping through Firstcall! In terms of first full time job that would be my current – still going strong and loving it!

How long have you been involved in YBG and what have you got out of being a member?

I’ve been involved for almost 2 years and it’s provided me with a forum to meet new people, I’ve found many of the talks to be interesting and it’s directly had a positive impact in respect of business.

Everybody is really friendly and I’ve had a great laugh on many occasion.

What is your favourite thing to do in Guernsey?

For me it’s about getting out to the various music events that get hosted locally, supporting the scene and having fun! Other than that I enjoy generally getting about the island particularly St Martins / Jerbourg (my old stomping grounds).

Which three people would you have at your dinner table and why?

Will Smith – I’d love to be able to sit down and hear what he has to say! He seems like a superb guy, super cool and maybe we’d get to reminisce on the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’.

Morgan Freeman – Because he’s Morgan Freeman!

Bear Grylls – Because getting first hand survival skills may very well come in handy one day! I always find myself watching his TV shows and given his exploration of the world I think he’d have some whacky and eye opening stories.
